Practical Skills Courses

MI 327: Field Safety

This course provides the student an opportunity to learn essential skills for personal safety and security. It focuses on building practical helps for awareness, preparation, and understanding their ministry environment to help navigate potential challenges.

MI 401: Field Health

This course is designed to impact the personal health of each student and their families towards wellness, now and on their future fields of service. The course will utilize direct instruction, small group discussions, case studies, and a practical skills module. Guest instructors will be included in their fields of expertise.

MI 431: Simple Living Practicum

This course provides an opportunity to develop practical skills for effective ministry. Students will experience living in an off-grid environment for an extended period, gaining hands-on exposure to simple living practices. The course integrates a variety of other courses including Stewarding Relationships, Missionary Technology, Scratch Cooking and more, providing a foundation for those who may live in resource limited contexts.

MI 432: Scratch Cooking

This course is designed to introduce students to basic cooking skills, focusing on making meals from scratch. Students will learn how to plan ahead, preparing for possible extended periods of time where supply buying may be limited. Through this course students will be equipped with basic skills needed to create simple, yet effective meals in any setting.
